God never asks about our ability or our inability - just our availability.

I heard the voice of the Lord,
saying, "Whom shall I send,
and who will go for us?"
Then said I, "Here am I; send me."
-- Isaiah 6:8

Do You Have
a Quilt or Blanket
of Your Very Own?

Some people less fortunate do not and so there are a few of us ladies at St. John's sewing blocks together and tying them and sending them off in the fall of the year.

We sure could use more help in cutting blocks and sewing them together and we will gladly tie them. There is material at church that has been donated in which to cut out blocks and this can be done in your own home. We also invite you to come and help tie.

We meet at church on the 4th Thursday of the month at 1 PM to tie the quilts. We even have coffee afterwards. If you would like to help, call me or just show up!

St. John's will again have the privilege of hosting the Norfolk Food Pantry for the month of September. Vacation Bible School students have already generously collected food items to be donated, but we need your help, too!

Some needed items are:
peanut butter
soups - chicken noodle, beef, vegetable
jelly
canned fruit
canned vegetables - beans, corn, peas
juice (not cranberry)
canned meat - tuna, beef, pork, turkey
pasta
macaroni & cheese
pancake mix
toilet tissue

cereal

Cash donations are also welcomed!
The church buys ground beef, hot dogs,
milk, etc. for the pantry.

During September last year, 201 adults and 104 children used the pantry. Boxes are now available in the Narthex and west hallway for your donations.

FOOD PANTRY

Volunteers are needed to buy groceries from the Food Bank for the Food Pantry. It would be one week every month for only two days a week - Mon./Wed. or Tues./Thurs., 1 - 1 ½ hrs. If you are interested, please contact Carol Sorsen.
